Energy for families and industrial expansion
The Province has two types of sources for petroleum extraction at the Atlantic ocean coast, located in the city of Muanda: off-shore (in the open ocean) and on-shore (on land).
The hydrological potential of the province is estimated at 63,516.78 MW which represents an electrical power of 560,640 GWh/year distributed among the different sites.

In Kongo Central, you will find the Inga I, Inga II and Zongo hydroelectric power plants, with a capacity of 351, 1,424 and 150 MW respectively.

The Province’s needs in terms of Energy

The Province’s energy potential

In rural areas, 90% of the province’s energy resources come from biomass.
The Province’s energy challenges focus on improving community access to electricity to enable increased productive, local, community, industrial and commercial activities.
To achieve electrification of densely populated areas through grid extension, interconnection of isolated grids or creation of mini grids and less densely populated areas through stand-alone systems.
